Exams June 2022 and December 2022

June and December 2022, were the months of our bi-annual dancing exams, where all of our classes come together to be graded on the Medallist routines they have been learning within their sessions. An external examiner from the IDTA comes in to observe and watch the students in an array of dance styles and grade them on presentation, coordination and rhythmical interpretation. As always our students bought their ‘A’ game and in both sets of exams, the whole school achieved another 100% successful pass rate, with high marks of 98% and more Schorlarship nominations in both Freestyle and Street. Our next set of exams are June 2023. Please check out dates for diary for more information.

We also had 3 student teachers taking their first Fully Qualified Teaching Exam in Freestyle Associate. Molly Knight, Jinny Leybourne and Keeley Pears. Congratulations girls in passing your IDTA Teaching exam and welcome to our teaching family.

Diversity Workshop

Wow, wow, wow. What an amazing experience we were able to give our Remain Nameless pupils of Fusion Dance Academies. We cannot thank Diversity enough for the choreography, the tour of their brand new studio which we were honoured to be the first dance school along with one more dance school to see the new venue. The meet and greet with them too. Just amazing! Fantastic day and can’t wait for more opportunities of learning with them again one day soon. More pictures to follow on our website of our lovely pupils who couldn’t stop smiling all day.

New York 2022

Well finally after 3 years of planning, we finally made it to perform in New York City. Originally planned for 2021, a year later 11 students from Remain Nameless, finally took to the skies for 4 days of performing, workshopping, dinner cruising, and sightseeing.

First up was our own dance performance at the Minskoff Theatre, home of The Lion King, followed by a Disney workshop recreating the magic of the Lion King.

Then we had 3 workshops, a Hamilton workshop taken by Gabi Sorrentino (Hamilton swing), a tap workshop lead by Corbin Bleu, from the film, High School Musical and a question and answer followed by a mock audition, led by Gabrielle Carrubba. (Dear Evan Hanson).

The performance on Time Square took place at 8pm in the evening with all performing schools from across the world. Everyone danced together amongst the hustle and bustle of the crowds and underneath the bright lights.

The whole weekend was topped off by a Hudson River cruise where we dined and danced on the way to the Statue of Liberty, where we paused to take her in whilst looking across at the Manhattan skyline.

It was an experience like no other, both from a personal and professional front and we would like to thank COGO travel and Dance the World Broadway for a once in a lifetime opportunity. Words cannot express how the trip made everyone feel and although we were missing a fair few of the team, the performance squad represented Fusion Dance Academies from the UK in the most spectacular fashion. Stacey and I could not be prouder of the achievements our students are reaching. Here’s to our next adventure.

Teacher Training from September 2021 to July 2022

Throughout the year our teachers attend lecture days and AGMs in various locations to further their education and to keep up to date with the changes in different genres and syllabus.

September 2021 - South East Area Lecture Day and AGM in Addlestone. This is for our area and was the first one back after Covid and was so lovely to see all of our IDTA friends again and being back in the same room learning together was fantastic.

February 2022 - London Meeting. This is where all areas come together and learn from different teachers throughout the IDTA and Competitors in their genre. We then have a mini get together after with a showcase that Directors of IDTA arrange for the members and canapés after to catch up on the year.

May 2022 - South East Area Dinner Dance. This evening is arranged by the Committee on the South East Area whom Keely is apart of. It’s an evening of delicious food and fabulous Cabaret and another chance to catch up with out South East Area teachers and for some of our adult pupils to attend and have an evening of laughter and dancing! Followed by lectures taught by the committee themselves the following day. A chance for pupils to attend and see what our lecture days are all about.

July 2022 - Annual Congress and Dinner Dance. The big event now held back in Blackpool after all of these years. A weekend full of lectures, Gatsby Evening on the Saturday and the Dinner Dance on the Sunday and then the AGM on the Monday. This weekend is always filled with fantastic lectures and catching up again with everyone and bringing the IDTA together as a big family.

Haymarket Show July 2022

Well what can I say. It took us 4 years to get back on a stage and what a show…. Keely and I could not be prouder of every dancer on the stage and behind the scenes. Working tirelessly to get it all together and running smoothly. If it wasn’t for our students and their families behind us, who knows where we would be right now. The blood, sweat and tears were all worth it. Costume washing now complete thanks to the lovely weather we had at the beginning of August to get it dry. Well done to everyone who took part and the new show letter is out now for Showtime 2023. So glad to be back on stages and doing what we do best. Love you all!!!
